Former owner of local Jack in the Boxes busted on grand theft charges - Chico Enterprise Record: "A bankrupt Roseville developer who owned Jack in the Box restaurants in Butte County has been arrested on grand theft charges, the Sacramento Bee reported Friday.
Abe Alizadeh has not paid millions in sales and unemployment taxes, according to the state Attorney General's Office, and didn't intend to.
Alizadeh is being held in lieu of $1 million bail in the Placer County Jail in Auburn, according to the newspaper. In 2009, Alizadeh ordered the closure of more than 70 restaurants, including ones in Chico, Oroville and Paradise, as he filed for bankruptcy protection. He owed about $4 million in delinquent state taxes."
